We’ve gotten a few calls from Tomboy Tool demonstrators asking about how our site works. You really can’t compare our site with the single-page site provided by the company. There are some things you can do to make your site work better, though. One is Pay-Per-Click advertising (PPC), another is SEO (Search Engine Optimization).
Google AdWords is the biggest PPC advertiser. We just started to use Adwords, and it looks like it will be helpful to our business. So far this week we can point to four sales that came from our new adwords campaign. We opened the account with $40; there is a $5 fee to open a new account, so that left us with $35 to begin the campaign.
There are no subscription fees to worry about. Adwords lets you determine your own daily budget for your ads. In our case, we set the daily budget at $2/day.
It looks like PPC works best if you also pay attention to the SEO (Search Engine Optimization) of your site (we’ll discuss that in another post.) We have been ranking pretty well with our static site, and are just now adapting that into our new blog format. As we understand it, blogs can work well with SEO optimization, and that in turn will help us get better advertising rates from Adwords.
Google PPC is really pretty easy, even though there are a lot SEO details that should be done before you start your campaign. The Google tutorials are a fantastic, and free, learning tool that can help you understand how PPC and SEO can work for you to give you the best advertising rates and get on the first page of a google search results page.
